Fashion Show

More than 300 people attended the fifth annual dog fashion show hosted by Harrods, the London-based upscale department store. Guests were treated to champagne and canapés while dog and human models walked a 60-foot runway showcasing the works of top designers, including Vivienne Westwood, Issa, Ben de Lisi and Stephen Webster.

Adhering to the evening’s theme—Diamond Dogs—Webster created a diamond and precious jewel collar set by Dali Diamonds, which was worth more than half a million pounds. Sexy Beast made its Harrods’ launch at the two-hour event, which was held Nov. 29.  Harrods will carry three products from the New York City-based Sexy Beast: its signature fragrance, coat gloss and the fresh spritzer. It marked the dog fragrance line’s international department store debut, although the company says it has since begun additional expansion into other parts of Europe.

Here in the US, all you need to do is go to TOULEH to buy designer clothes and accessories, so you can your pooch can walk the runway!

Gus was a “famous” dog who you might have seen in your email box after he won the “World’s Ugliest Dog Contest” held in California in June of 2008. His “less-than-handsome” look made him popular in office email forwards and on sites like digg.com.

Gus’ owner was using the prize money from the contest to pay for Gus’ cancer treatments, but, alas, he fell victim to the cancer on November 10th, 2008.

Now… There is NO such thing as an ugly dog! Every one is cute in their own way.

Cesar Millan, Every Dog’s Hero!

Cesar Millan has been called a Dr. Phil for dogs, and for good reason. Cesar’s amazing rehabilitations of aggressive, scared, lazy, compulsive, and jealous dogs captured the national spotlight when his National Geographic Channel series Dog Whisperer premiered in September 2004. Regular viewers soon came to realize it wasn’t the dogs but the quirky owners who needed Cesar’s help the most. In January 2006, Dog Whisperer returned for a primetime second season with expanded hour-long episodes. The expanded hour-long episodes of the subsequent seasons give viewers what they are clamoring for: more time to witness Cesar’s rehabilitation of dogs and training of their owners.

Going directly into homes without any prior information or preparation on that day’s case, Dog Whisperer documents the remarkable transformations that take place under Cesar’s calm-assertive guidance.

Cesar is often the last resort for clients confronting crises with their beloved pets. While most of Dog Whisperer Episodes take place in and near the homes of dogs and their owners, Cesar sometimes decides to bring extreme cases to his Dog Psychology Center for Power of the Pack training. There, they meet his resident dogs, which number as many as 50 at a time, last-chance Rottweilers, pit bulls, and Dobermans originally marked for death but now enjoying a new lease on life while assisting Cesar in training other dogs.

Dog friendly Honda?!

Honda Motor Co. has designed a car that’s friendly for dogs. The W.O.W. Concept, which stands for “wonderful openhearted wagon,” is an exhibition model with no plans for commercial sale that will be exhibited at the Tokyo auto show .

A special crate for dogs in the glove apartment allows owners to interact with their pets while driving. A bigger crate pops up from the floor in the back seat area and can be folded back into the floor when it’s not needed. For even bigger dogs, just buckle them up with a special seat belt to the floor.

The W.O.W comes with removable, washable, rollout flooring and has wide sliding doors to keep dogs happy.

Is it just me, or is this the cutest idea ever?! Now that dogs are becoming important parts of our families, they really should put this car into production!
